Phil Leotardo’s "Compromise" Grilled Cheese
Show Context
Phil did 20 years in the can. He wanted manicotti. He compromised. He ate grilled cheese off the radiator instead. This recipe recreates that struggle meal.
Grilled cheese made on a radiator (or stove).
Instructions
- 01
Prep: Butter one side of each bread slice.
- 02
Assembly: Place one slice butter-side down. Add cheese. Top with the other slice, butter-side up.
- 03
The 'Radiator' Method (Stove): Heat a pan on very low. Press the sandwich down. You want it to cook slowly, mimicking the gentle, frustrating heat of a prison radiator.
- 04
Wait: Cook for 10 minutes on one side until the cheese starts to sweat. Flip.
- 05
Compromise: Cook the other side.
- 06
Serve: Cut diagonally. Eat it while nurturing a deep-seated grudge against everyone you know.
- 07
Note: Do NOT put tissues in the sandwich.
